Judges

Giuseppe Salomone

Born in Scafati (Naples), Giuseppe began his ballet studies in Pompei Italy. In 2006 he joined the Academy of Teatro alla Scala where he graduate in 2012 under the direction of Frédéric Olivieri. During the academy he became a part of several production “Raymonda” Marius Petipa, “Don Quixote”, “Larmas Blanche” Angelin Prejocaj. In 2012 he became member of Xing Peng Wang Ballet Dortmund company, in this year he participated in Mauro Bigonzetti’s Cantata/Rossini Cards productions; Immortal Beloved of Edward Liang. After Dortmund from 2012 to 2017 he be part of the Mecklenburgisches Staatstheater Schwerin and then freelance starting to dance around Europe, Royal Danish – Theater Magdeburg – TNOLS Magdeburg – Ballet Halle – Hamburg – Tivoli Ballet with this last he danced for the Queen Margrethe II in the premiere of “Snow Queen”of Yuri Possokhov In March 2020 he started with Tangente an own Project. He working with students and dancers who are already professionals, finding a style made of geometry and musicality. Now is part of several Workshop and Intensive course for academy and school.

Vladimir Shishov

Born in St. Petersburg (Russia). He is a graduate of the St. Petersburg Vaganova Academy of the Russian Ballet. From 2000 to 2006 he was a member of the Ballet of the Mariinsky Theater, most recently as a soloist. His repertoire included Basil in Don Quixote, Conrad in Le Corsaire, Redbeard in Swan Lake, Jean de Brienne in Raymonda, Ferhad in Legend of Love, Paris in Romeo and Juliet, Youth in Leningrad Symphony as well as parts of John Neumeier’s The Sounds of Empty Pages and William Forsythe’s In the Middle, Somewhat Elevated andSteptext. His engagement as a solo dancer to the ballet of the Vienna State Opera and Volksoper took place in 2006. In 2010 he was appointed the first solo dancer of the Vienna State Ballet. “Marguerite and Armand”, Aslak, a blacksmith, in Edward Clug’s Since September 2016 he works as a teacher at the Ballet Academy of the Vienna State Opera. Award: Prix International of the journal “Ballet 2000” (2008).

Simona Ferrazza

Simona started her ballet education at the National Ballet Academy in Rome and moved to London at the age of 16 to join the Royal Ballet School of London, she participated in several productions with the Birmingham Royal Ballet, then she became a professional dancer with English National Ballet, as Demi Soloist. During this time she worked with many choreographers such as Derek Deane, Michael Corder, Mauro Bigonzetti and among many others. After several years with the English National Ballet, Simona joined the Dutch National Ballet, where she extended her classical repertoire to the neo-classical and modern pieces that characterise this company, such as, Balanchine, Hans Van Manen, Ted Brandsen, David Dawson and Krzysztof Pastor, she followed the Vaganova Course taught by pedagogue, Pieter Silkin and Grigori Tchitcherine. Simona started teaching at the Dutch National Ballet Academy in Amsterdam, with the role of classical ballet teacher, for ballet class, pointe work, repertoire and stretching. From 2022 Simona is also Methodist for the Bachelor programme Teacher of classical ballet. Simona has taught as a guest teacher for several schools in Europe and represented the Dutch National Ballet Academy as a judge in multiple competitions.

Fees

Each participant is allowed to perform:

  • Solo:
    In person – Euro 50/ AED 200
  • Duet or Trios: Euro 40 / AED 150 per each participant
  • Group Dance up to 8 participants: Euro 30/ AED 125 per each participant
  • Group Dance more than 8 participants: Euro 25/ AED 100 per each participant
  • Any additional dance from the same category for the same participant will be charged extra:
    Ex. 2nd Solo for the same participant Euro 40/ AED150
  • Workshop Schedule & Fees:
    Classical Ballet: 1h and 30min
    Repertoire: 1h and 30min
    Contemporary: 1h and 30min
  • Fees:
    1 Masterclass: Euro 50/ AED200
    2 Masterclasses: Euro 85/ AED350
    3 Masterclasses: Euro 110/ AED450
  • These fees are charged per performer per category
  • Any additional category will be charged extra
  • 5% VAT will apply on all fees.

For UAE participants they can either pay cash or bank transfer.

Please note that, each school is responsible to complete the payments for their participants.

Rules & Guidelines

  1. This year we are holding the online competition separate from In-person competition.
  2. The filming does not have to be done by a professional therefore the teacher can film the contestant on a device, as long as the footage and sound are clear.
  3. The footage should be submitted via a secure platform such as Wetransfer or similar service.
  4. Online participants must sign the Filming Agreement Form. If the participant is below 18 years old, their legal guardian can sign on their behalf.
  5. Filming should be undertaken in a dance studio or stage.
  6. The contestants must be fully visible on the footage ensuring their whole body (From head to foot) are captured during their performance.
  7. All our judges are well-prepared and competent for the International Dance Competition. Any decision by our judges are deemed final. We pride ourselves on being fair.
  8. The group dance will be passed in the age category applicable to the oldest performer in the group.
  9. Music should not be offensive or contain swearing.
  10. The judging panel reserves the right decision to re-assign any routine that they see it is not placed in the correct category.
  11. If entry fees are not paid we will not allow performers to participate in the competition.

Number of entries will be on a first come, first serve basis and will be limited to the amount of performance time available. Aspire Ballet Dubai has the right to add or remove days for the competition depending on the number of registrations.

A general performance schedule will be posted on the website 2-3 days prior to the competition.

Categories

The age of the entrant will be taken as of 2023.

  1. Tiny 6-8 yrThis category are not restricted to the classical repertoire, they can perform Variation, Contemporary, or free Solo time limit up to 1:30 min.
  2. Petite 9-11 yrThese categories are not restricted to the classical repertoire, they can Perform Variation, Contemporary, or free Solo time limit up to 2:00 min.
  3. Junior 12-14 yr These categories can perform any Variation from classical ballet repertories, Character Or Contemporary dance time limit up to 2:00 min.
  4. Senior 15-18 yrVariation from Classical Ballet Repertories, Character Or Contemporary dance time limit up to 2:00 min.
  5. Elite 17-20 yrVariation from Classical Ballet Repertories on point shoes, Character Or Contemporary dance time limit up to 2:00 min.
  6. Professional 20-30 yrVariation from Classical Ballet Repertories, Character Or Contemporary dance time limit up to 2:30 min.
  7. Pas de Duex 11-30 yrAll dancers will perform Adajio and Coda from the classical ballet repertories time up to 5:00 min.
  8. Duet 8-30 yrThis Category can perform contemporary or Character work from classical reporters time up to 2:30 min.
  9. Trio 9-30 yrThis Category can perform Classical ballet, Character from classical ballet reporters or contemporary time limit up to 3:00 min.
  10. Group Dance available for All Categories(Up to 9 participants) Time limit up to 3:00 min

Style of Dance

Classical Ballet: A routine containing classical steps and ballet technique and steps with or without pointe shoes.

Character: A dance routine of any style that portrays a recognizable character.

Contemporary: A blend of modern technique and lyrical elements with a strong emphasis.

Modern: A routine including interpretive movement demonstrating balance control and extension.

Acrobatics: A routine in which choreography is a blend of acrobatic and Dance.

Hip- Hop: A routine using primarily hip-hop technique and movements, including street dance style

Free style: A Combination of dance style and any acrobatics/gymnastic tricks are allowed.

Any routine containing three or more acrobatics or gymnastics elements should listed under the acrobatics category
